Our next committee gem is Shauna Here’s why Shauna joined DIL COS “I first became involved with Darkness into Light when I heard my cousin Karen was looking to set up a walk in Carrick. I think an important part of partaking in things like DIL, specific to mental health, is to take it one step at a time. We aren't going to change the world but we can improve people's lives and be the light in their darkness. I lost my aunt Sharon in 2009 and my uncle Pete in 2018 to suicide and know how visceral the pain is, even today. Suicide is definitely something that affects everyone, depression unfortunately doesn't discriminate. The work that Pieta House do is unbelievable, it costs an average of €1,000 to counsel one person for an 8 week period. Even if you can't do the walk, register, donate, spread the word. Somebody once told me that raindrops fill buckets, donating even a euro to Pieta House goes towards saving another life” Thank you @shaunapowerxo for bringing the joy to the committee #pieta #dil22 #carrickonsuir #electricireland #darknessintolight ...
