Rathgormack North Waterford Community Development was formed in January 1998 following four years of fundraising by locals committed to a programme of integrated development for Rathgormack village and surrounds. Objectives included a mountaineering/Tourism Development Centre, promotion of tourism and local enterprise, and a Social, educational and youth development plan.

 

In 2000, Rathgormack Hiking and Community Centre was opened with hostel & kitchen, meeting room, sports hall & stage with associated facilities.In 2009, Rathgormack Looped Walks were launched as a series of waymarked road, forest and hill walks within the Comeragh Mountains locally. With grant aid & support from Waterford Leader Partnership & Waterford CoCo, along with committed local fundraising, Clodiagh Playground was opened in November 2010. In July 2019, the Comeragh Amenity Area adjacent to the centre opened with all weather pitch, walking track & amenity area.
