I will definitely stay here again. great hostel well kept..no fuss great facilities and a nice friendly pub across the road for a bit of craic.

Perfect hostel in a perfect location!
The hostel sits at the foot of the picturesque Comeragh Mountains that offers so many walks and lakes for the beginner to the more... read more experienced hill walker. As the mountain is so close to the hostel,as are the beginning of many of the walks,we find this hostel the ideal location when we are visiting the South East.
The facilities are extremely clean and well-equipped and bedding is included in all the rooms. There is no shortage of hot showers so you don't have to worry about queuing up for a shower on your return from your walk.
The kitchen is very big and spacious with plenty of utensils and kitchenware easy to hand.
If you are bringing children there is a fantastic children's playground right outside the centre. When we were there we were talking to a couple that had travelled half an hour just to bring their kids there as they like that playground so much!
The people there are so friendly and helpful always and extremely knowledgeable on the area and the different walks and lakes around.

We have used this centre on a number of occasions and have always found it to be fantastic. Set amid the majestic Comeragh Mountains, it is a perfect base... read more for hill walking and trekking. It is within striking distance of many beautiful looped walks and lake walks such as Coumshingaun, Crotty's Lake and the Boola Lakes.
The hostel itself has great facilities including a fully equipped large kitchen, a sitting room that can double as a bedroom if needed, full facilities for people with disabilities, 2 big dorms on the first floor with toilets and shower rooms. Spotlessly clean and bedding is provided too. There is a lovely children's playground beside it with facilities for children with a disability, as well as outdoor picnic tables. Great for a barbeque on warm evenings. There is a large sports hall at the centre that is sometimes used by local groups.
Wonderful committee of local people always on hand to give information and to help out in any way.
