Are there many facilities in Rathgormack Village?

Rathgormack is a small beautifully kept village with local school, church, childcare facility, Comeragh Stores shop and newly renovated community owned pub & coffee shop called The Village.  Along with the facilities provided at Comeragh Amenity Area such as the playground, Bocce Court & All weather pitch; the village has a soccer pitch and Rathgormack GAA have their GAA field just outside the village. Are there shower facilities in the hostel?

Yes there are shower and bathroom facilities available in the Hostel for all our guests. See the hostel page herefor further details.

Do you serve food & Drink?

We are not fully equipped to offer this service at the moment, however, there are a number of options. 

Our kitchen is fully fitted and you have access to a fridge & freezer to store your food items.  You are welcome to cook in our hostel kitchen, for further details, see here

In our village, Comeragh Stores sells fresh baked goods Monday to Saturday.

The Village pub & cafe also sells a variety of items depending on times, including scones, cakes, & pizzas.  

 

Do you take payment by Credit Card?

We do not currently have card payment facilities on site.  At the moment we can take cash payment on arrival. We can also take payment by paypal, please let us know in advance and we can issue an invoice.

Is the hostel far from the Comeragh Mountains hiking trails?

The Hiking Centre and Hostel is based in the village of Rathgormack which is surrounded by the Comeragh Mountains. There are several access points to the Hill Walking Trails, within 4-5 kms. Please see our Walks pages for further details here. 

Is the Hostel locked at night?

Hostel access is managed by the committee.  The safety and security of our guests is taken very seriously.  Key holding is managed carefully and on a case by case basis.

Is the Hostel open all year?

The hostel is open almost all year round, however we only cater for groups in the winter months. (November 1st to February 28th) Hostel is closed for Christmas. However, please get in touch if you have a specific query.

Is the Hostel suitable for all ages?

Yes. We have two separate dorms with 10 beds each. Either of these could be used to accommodate a family. We do not have travel cots, but people are welcome to bring their own.

Is the playground free for all to use?

We welcome all children to our playground area, and ask that all users respect the equipment and make use of the litter bins in the area.  For further details, please click here.
